Hitz Design is able to offer experience at every step of the process and where resources are needed, We provide expert professional assistance through a team of associate engineers, architects, and aquatic specialists.

By means of a thorough site analysis, information about slope, soils, hydrology, vegetation, parcel ownership, orientation, etc. are assessed and mapped to determine the optimal location for the project elements. With that analysis complete, a comprehensive master plan can be prepared.  The master planning process involves, among other things, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, facilities, site amenities and cost estimating.  Hitz Design is careful to address the needs of the client when it comes to equal access planning, signage, and lighting.

Hitz Design can also provide services for full construction documentation and administration to help the client research their goal within the budget and constraints required.

Hitz Design is experienced in consulting with clients on view management issues, tree care and pruning guidelines, tree valuation, and timber trespass cases.  Many are not aware of the deliberate and sometimes overlooked occurrences that can contribute to running the life of a tree.  Our team is able to offer proven knowledge to maximize the life of your trees and offer long term sustainability to not only the trees, but to the land feeding their growth.

The land at Taltree in Indiana has seen great and wonderful change through the years.  What was once a pristine savannah-type landscape, human development transformed into a land dominated by large scale crop farming.  Hitz Design was hired in 1998 with the objective of restoring existing cornfields to their original Oak Savanna and prairie landscape.

Creating a master plan, Hitz proposed a phased project that would eventually yield multiple public areas on the Taltree property; all designed to offer natural inspiration for its visitors.  Multiple gardens span this 300-acre preserve of wetlands, prairies, and woodlands.  The Japanese Stroll Garden, Rose Garden, Joseph E. Meyer Garden Pavilion, and the recently completed Taltree Railway Garden are all products of the Hitz Design team.  Taltree continues to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors to the South Lake Michigan area.
